Szymon Emil Parulski - Clarinet
Szymon Emil Parulski is a renowned musician with an impressive international background. Currently a guest solo clarinetist at La Monnaie/De Munt in Brussels.
During his orchestral career he has performed as a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra under some of the greatest conductors such as Klaus Mäkelä, Sir Simon Rattle, Vasily Petrenko, and Sir Antonio Pappano. He was also a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, where he performed under esteemed Manfred Honeck. Additionally, he has collaborated with notable Polish ensembles, including AUKSO Tychy the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra, and the Young Polish Philharmonic (Młoda Polska Filharmonia) working with acclaimed conductors Marek Moś, Marek Wroniszewski, Rune Bergmann and Adam Klocek.
He has completed his Master of Arts in Specialized Musical Performance at the Hochschule für Musik FHNW in Basel, where he studied under François Benda. This was preceded by a bachelor’s degree at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice with Arkadiusz Adamski. Szymon began his musical journey at the Music School in Płock, where he was led by Jacek Grochocki.
A winner of over 40 prizes in various competitions, Szymon’s distinctions include the 3rd prize at the prestigious 5th International Clarinet Competition in Ghent and the 1st prize at the 17th International Clarinet Competition “Saverio Mercadante”. Other notable achievements include the 2nd prize at the International Clarinet Competition in Porto and the 1st prize at the Sponsorship Award of the Basel Orchestra Society (Förderpreis der Basler Orchester-Gesellschaft).

Szymon has performed with renowned orchestras including Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, playing Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1 during the final of the Ghent Clarinet Competition. His performance was recorded and released by Aliud Records. His discography also includes Dance Preludes by Witold Lutosławski, recorded with the Symphony Orchestra of Płock as part of the album 20th Century Polish Music, produced by DUX Recording Producers.
He has also worked with the Sinfonieorchester Basel, playing Krzysztof Penderecki’s Clarinet Concerto and had a privilege to perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet with the esteemed Zemlinsky Quartet In addition to his performance career,
Szymon has received numerous scholarships and awards, including the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, the Sinfonia Varsovia Foundation Scholarship, and the Polish Government’s Młoda Polska (Young Poland) scholarship for young artists.
