Szymon Emil Parulski - Clarinet

Szy­mon Emil Parul­s­ki is a renowned musi­cian with an impres­sive inter­na­tion­al back­ground. Cur­rent­ly a guest solo clar­inetist at La Monnaie/De Munt in Brus­sels.

Dur­ing his orches­tral career he has per­formed as a mem­ber of the Ver­bier Fes­ti­val Orches­tra under some of the great­est con­duc­tors such as Klaus Mäkelä, Sir Simon Rat­tle, Vasi­ly Petrenko, and Sir Anto­nio Pap­pano. 
He was also a mem­ber of the Gus­tav Mahler Jugen­dorch­ester, where he per­formed under esteemed Man­fred Honeck. Addi­tion­al­ly, he has col­lab­o­rat­ed with notable Pol­ish ensem­bles, includ­ing AUKSO Tychy the Inter­na­tion­al Lutosławs­ki Youth Orches­tra, and the Young Pol­ish Phil­har­mon­ic (Mło­da Pol­s­ka Fil­har­mo­nia) work­ing with acclaimed con­duc­tors Marek Moś, Marek Wro­niszews­ki, Rune Bergmann and Adam Klo­cek.

He has com­plet­ed his Mas­ter of Arts in Spe­cial­ized Musi­cal Per­for­mance at the Hochschule für Musik FHNW in Basel, where he stud­ied under François Ben­da. This was pre­ced­ed by a bachelor’s degree at the Karol Szy­manows­ki Acad­e­my of Music in Katow­ice with Arka­diusz Adams­ki. Szy­mon began his musi­cal jour­ney at the Music School in Płock, where he was led by Jacek Gro­choc­ki.

A win­ner of over 40 prizes in var­i­ous com­pe­ti­tions, Szymon’s dis­tinc­tions include the 3rd prize at the pres­ti­gious 5th Inter­na­tion­al Clar­inet Com­pe­ti­tion in Ghent and the 1st prize at the 17th Inter­na­tion­al Clar­inet Com­pe­ti­tion “Save­rio Mer­cadante”. Oth­er notable achieve­ments include the 2nd prize at the Inter­na­tion­al Clar­inet Com­pe­ti­tion in Por­to and the 1st prize at the Spon­sor­ship Award of the Basel Orches­tra Soci­ety (Förder­preis der Basler Orch­ester-Gesellschaft).

Szy­mon has per­formed with renowned orches­tras includ­ing Sym­fonieork­est Vlaan­deren, play­ing Carl Maria von Weber’s Clar­inet Con­cer­to No. 1 dur­ing the final of the Ghent Clar­inet Com­pe­ti­tion. His per­for­mance was record­ed and released by Ali­ud Records. His discog­ra­phy also includes Dance Pre­ludes by Witold Lutosławs­ki, record­ed with the Sym­pho­ny Orches­tra of Płock as part of the album 20th Cen­tu­ry Pol­ish Music, pro­duced by DUX Record­ing Pro­duc­ers.

He has also worked with the Sin­fonieorch­ester Basel, play­ing Krzysztof Penderecki’s Clar­inet Con­cer­to and had a priv­i­lege to per­form Wolf­gang Amadeus Mozart’s Clar­inet Quin­tet with the esteemed Zem­lin­sky Quar­tet In addi­tion to his per­for­mance career,

Szy­mon has received numer­ous schol­ar­ships and awards, includ­ing the Swiss Gov­ern­ment Excel­lence Schol­ar­ship, the Sin­fo­nia Varso­via Foun­da­tion Schol­ar­ship, and the Pol­ish Gov­ern­men­t’s Mło­da Pol­s­ka (Young Poland) schol­ar­ship for young artists.
